Originally posted by NatsiaWell, I'd like it to be as simple as possible. More categories means more work. If there's a demand in the future, we can branch off into other areas. I'd like to stick to computer graphics for the first round. (We already have a photography competition.) If someone wanted to insert a piece of a photo into their picture, that would be fine. Or, if someone wanted to significantly manipulate a photo, that would be ok too.
I'm down.
Is this only going to be cg based?
Why not sub categorize into
Computer Graphics - Photoshop / vector / miscellaneous (for the Microsoft painters of the world)
Traditional Art - Illustration, Painting, Mixed media
Photography.
A visual art "exhibition" should allow for all forms of media.
The idea though, is to make it more computer graphics-related than anything else.
I liked your earlier idea of the "RHP propaganda" theme.

Calling it an "art" exhibition and then disallowing other media seems a bit unfair to those who don't use or don't have access to imaging software.
Just a thought.
Yeah, I still think the propaganda theme would work well, as I said in pm; It's open enough to allow non-artists & designers a chance to participate, as well being a well recognized art form in its own right.
Something which most people can emulate and aspire to.
For those who wish to have a look at a few samples of the theme idea:

Rbmorris, post that link you sent me, I seem to have deleted it.
Originally posted by NatsiaPersonally, I don't care what it's called. Then again, if you get too far into semantics, an "art" exhibition could include food, dance, poetry...etc., as well as all sorts of things that were off the designated topic. "Design" could include architecture, furniture, clothing...etc. I don't think that changing the name will matter much. People will just have to read the instructions/rules and respect mah authoritah.

Anyone who's a painter or a chef or a furniture maker is welcome to start their own competition. I'd participate in a painting exhibition, even though I'm not very good.
Here's the link to that other propaganda stuff that I like. It's all done by Shepard Fairey (the guy who created the whole Obey Giant campaign).

If you only go for one category, why not let the name reflect that?
