How about a betting game for those with WAY too much time on their hands (like most of us 😀 ).

WARNING: This is not for the easily bored.

What we do, is pick a newbie on to this site, and then we take a pool as to what their rating will be after 5 rated games.

Winner gets nothing, except the respect of the others.

i like it. seems to be a great idea from my point. but maybe the winner would get like one or 10 free points as in rating points.

Where's the judgment in this? Are we betting on random events - if so, where's the fun in that. Wouldn't it be better to bet on players' future ratings once thay have played a few games? We could then study their 'form'...

Thats fine too - who do you suggest for the "known" player.

You know the players that used to be over 2000 whom suddenly are dropping. It would be cool to pick some of these and see just where they land...

I nominate myself as the first 'horse'. Recently peaked at 1412, then dived back down to 1283, now on the way back up. So the challenge is, what will my rating be at the end of March? Any takers..

how about taking a 5 point spread each, so Alcra you can have 1390-1395? that way everyone gets an equal 'bracket' of points and we can have a finite number of entries. If it helps I feel like a 1350-1400 player, but then I'm a little bit arrogant.

At this point we have:

We still have that juicy 1000 - 1005 available. Maybe we can set up some games against David Tebb or Ironman *evil snickering
