Time is an odd thing. They say all time is now, but just when is now? NOW! Nope that was back then. 🙂 I think George Carlin did a routine on this subject. People think he was a comedian, I think he was a philosophical genius that used humor to get his ideas across. 😉 RIP

You're comparing apples and oranges, as someone else already said you can't pick a month out of the air. Ever heard of seasonally adjusted statistics? They're the only ones that mean anything at all.

Ok there, fancybritches, since the site is worldwide, the relevance of seasons is taken out of the equation. You know about this stuff - basic stats.

Statistically speaking, 6 out of 7 dwarves are not happy.

Did you know that word was "dwarfs" until Tolkien invented a new spelling for it? Now his version is finding its way into the dictionaries.

I don't know why it ever was spelt "dwarfs" if you think about the plurals of wharf and shelf and scarf. On the other hand, imagine a collection of smurves.

I think either way will do.

It's one of those strange words like SWAP.

You can also spell it SWOP.

But SWAP is the more acceptable way.

Hi GB...on your statistics:

How many of these threads were created by you to increase the number? How many posts did they gather?

Are you questioning Bobby's objectivity?

My point is: We can only count passively. That means: After a month has gone we can't accurately count the number of active threads easily, since some threads tend to stay active beyond a given month. And even I won't go in every thread and look if it has been active in a given month.

We can count killed threads which give us an impression on how many threads a last post was made. This is only possible post mortem and it has been done some time. I will give a summary of 2012 in March when the last results are in.

Since this discussion was already begun some time ago I added at that statistics the birth-month of threads. It turned out so far that most threads die the month they are created and a small percentage makes it over to the next month (mostly threads created late in a month). Very few live for several month, though we hacve a few which made it to years!

Now I went and look up how many threads were born in January 2012: The number was a whooping 650! Thread 144268 to Thread 144918
In January 2013 we have a meager 535 Thread 150569 to Thread 151104.

However as I pointed out some time ago some threadid's don't exits (probably when people create a new thread and decide not to post it after all.)

Bobby himself created 39 threads in the GF in January. From the total threads created in January this is only 7.2 % so my abrasive comment was inapprpriate. I went by impression instead of numbers 🙁
