Gameknot is trying to bully me into subscribing because I have a free account there and they say I'm blocking Ads. Which really is faulty because I see there ads all the time. They say my Acct had been flagged twice and if I don't subscribe they will cancel it. I sent them a nasty note back such BS. Anyway Long Live RHP !!!! 🙂

They did the same to me, I apologised and unblocked my ads as soon as they objected, and they still kicked me out. Bunch of arrogant pigs, no right of appeal, no nothing. It had never occurred to me that anyone would object to adblocking, but then I'm naive on the internet. I checked out several sites but none are a patch on RHP as far as I'm concerned.
Notice from GameKnot: As you probably know, the free memberships on GameKnot are supported by the advertisers, who pay for the ads shown on our website. However, it appears that no ads (or only text ads) are being served for your account due to either an ad-blocking software on your computer, or some other software that prevents the ads from being displayed on our website. Which means that Gameknot ends up paying for the server resources and bandwidth used by your account, so unfortunately we are no longer able to provide you with a free membership.
Please subscribe to a premium membership, if you do not wish or unable to allow ads to be shown on our website. Thank you for your understanding.
We would love to be able to provide a free membership for everyone without asking for anything in return. However the reality of the situation is that it costs a lot of money to run a large website like GameKnot — powerful servers and high-speed bandwidth, salaries for our developers who add new features and improvements to the website, support staff who make sure everything runs smoothly and reliably, so that you can enjoy playing chess every day. The money has to come from somewhere to pay the bills, otherwise we would simply go bankrupt in a couple of months, or our staff will be unable to feed their families.
We hate ads as much as anyone else, however they are the only way we are able to provide everyone with a free membership on GameKnot. The only alternative is a premium subscription of course.
Of course the whole time I'm looking at full fledged Ads flash and all 🙂

Q: I have now allowed ads for your website, can you remove restrictions from my account?
A: Sorry, unfortunately once your account is flagged after 2 prior warnings, you have to subscribe to a premium membership if you wish to continue to enjoy playing chess on GameKnot.
First warning I ever received
This is the kicker !! POS site I hope it does go out of business 🙂

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What did I do wrong exactly?
A: Due to an ever increasing number of free accounts created on GameKnot each day, we are unable to review all of them manually. To ensure safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, GameKnot employs an automated system to screen all accounts for possible rule violations. Most common violations: creation of multiple accounts, rating manipulation, rude or insulting messages to other players, inappropriate language or image on the profile page, etc. For the detailed description of what is unacceptable on GameKnot please see our Rules and Policies.
Additionally, your account might simply be flagged by our automated system that screens all users for multiple accounts. Not being able to share the same computer with several other players is one of the limitations of a free account. It will be automatically lifted once you subscribe to premium membership.
Q: If I subscribe to a premium membership, how do I know you are not just going to suspend it again without an explanation?
A: Even though the free accounts are screened automatically, for premium subscribers, we review all possible rule violations manually. And in case of a first instance of a single unintentional minor violation, you will only receive a warning (if you are a premium subscriber of course).
Q: So does this mean that paying you money makes it ok to break the rules?
A: No, you are still required to follow GameKnot's Terms of Use, which you agreed to when registering your account with us.
Q: But I haven't done anything wrong, why do I still need to pay?
A: Paying for a premium membership is not a "rule violation fee" in any way — you will receive the full benefits of a premium membership with access to all advanced features and the ability to play more games simultaneously, just like any other premium membership subscriber. What it also shows is that you are serious about playing chess and provides a guarantee that you will follow all the rules.
I swear I see the ads and I was not blocking them. I understand they have to make money LOL but this is crazy. My bad for cheating on RHP but RHP is a far better site anyway that is why I subscribe here. There is no recourse either. I only have one account there.

🙁
O.K. so I've crossed being American off my list.
All I can think of is possibly you had some programme running while their software was scanning your computer. Obviously they weren't on hand to manually see what you were doing at 2 am in the morning so I suggest when playing chess don't open multiple browsers or run anything else.
Originally posted by menace71They told me i harassed someone and that my user name was blocked....but i COULD get my name unblocked if i subscribed...WTF?? I was only playing one game at a time, and hadn't chatted with anyone there...screw them.
