The whole skill thing as well (lol) atmosphere was great though even if we did get our butts whipped....should have seen the bars afterwards near the stadium...just good old clean (maybe not so as it was pissing down) fun..everyone getting stuck in. Much better than the aussies rules fans.

The boks beat the wallabies 26-22! WHOOHOO!
What a game, the aussies never got a chance to play their expansive and flowing game. Great defence and contesting of the ball at the breakdown by the SA boys, the wallabies are definately missing George Smith.

Special note: Welcome back De Wet Barry. What a game and a well deserved man-of-the-match award! He tackled the crap out of them...

No, not Johan as well!?
Everyone except me didn't give them a chance it seems.
I'm one of those eternal optimists.

I wasn't too sure we would win, but I knew we wouldn't get hammered.

The world cup is looking much closer for the aussies now... but maybe it's a little early for me to write them off...

Well I'm glad we are losing now while we still have some time to iron out the wrinkles. I predict things will improve dramatically between now and the WC for the wallabies.

Oh well...at least we can beat the Welsh....

Dylan (who is very glad he doesn't put money on union games).

Hmmm, that's what I thought as well.

Good god, the All Blacks (notice their name written in caps, showing my respect) is playing some great rugby.
I thought the boks played crap rugby when we lost so badly last week, but the kiwis just went and did the same to the wallabies today.

If they play this brand of rugby, no-one's gonna stop them at the world cup...

I seem to remember that's what everyone said at the last world cup - and then the French added some Gallic flair - what a match tha was:-)

Having said that the All Blacks do seem fairly impressive need to work on their line out though - I'm still backing England (40%head 60%heart😀)

Oh definately, but did you watch their games against the wallabies and boks?
Unbelievable is the only way to describe it.
They just pounced on every single mistake and then proceeded to score some great tries.
England showed that if you played 10 man rugby with good defence, you can beat the all blacks, but you can only defend that long against a skilled backline like that...

Unfortunately I haven't seen any of the summer tests yet (stuck in the middle of the N Sea) but have most on video and looking forward to watching them - however the conditions in the England- All Black match required 10 man rugby England did show the following week that they can spin it wide when they want to and can play to the conditions. Though from what I read this All Black back line is amazing. Maybe England need to pray for rain come November.

The whole all black side is looking amazing.
The tight five are doing a good job in the set pieces, the loose forwards are all over the place (watch out for Jerry Collins, he's big, strong and fast) and the backline with Carlos Spencer at flyhalf is looking very, very dangerous.
And this is without Nonu at centre with Umanga...
Joe Rokocoko is one of the best wings I've seen in ages, and Doug Howlett on the other side is not too shabby either. The backline is a freakin points machine...

I think it would be a mistake to confuse the AB's first match of the season played at night in the cold and the rain with how they'll play in November. Even so the AB's could have won in Wellington if they'd not tried to play Super 12 rugby in those conditions and/or Spencer had landed one of the 3 easy penalties he missed.
cheers
Martin

Aah, at last we got a New Zealander in the discussion...

Like I said, you can only defend that long against their brilliant backline. The conditions did suit England more, but that is not an excuse. A professional outfit should be able to play in any weather conditions.
That said, without a good goalkicker in your side, you're asking for trouble. Maybe Daniel Carter is the solution.
