Nice to hear from you again, Fjord. You've been away from the forums for a long time. It seems like you think Russ was incorrect in requiring age verification in order to play here. I am critical about the decision the admin made regarding the age limit, but I am shocked by the way they applied it without consideration for the consequences for the affected kids. It is hard to see how this was in their best interest.
You ask me how I think it could have been done better. I don't think it will be helpful to discuss that while the decisions are already made. The dice have been thrown and we have to take our gains and losses.
It left me no other choice than to leave RHP and to look for another site where I can play together with my grandson (11).
While leaving I wish RHP all the best with their future developments.
And I like to thank Russ, Chris and the moderators for the many good things I have seen them doing to us. Due to them I have met, played and fought many people on RHP that enriched my life. It was great. Again, thanks to all involved.

actually, why not ask Russ to implement a 'Kid's Account': no forum access, no personal messaging, but the ability to play chess?

No, I am not too upset to stay if I felt/thought that it was the best decision to take. But that is not the case. Orin has to leave RHP and where I have custody (his father/ my son died some time ago) he has to find a new place to play and for obvious reasons I will not let him go there on his own.
But I may decide to stay here on the forum and play incidentally a game. I just have to see how things develop.
