zo, evolution is a blind process. It doesn't place value judgements on the changes that occur due to the process. Therefore, nothing 'stops' evolution. All change, for what we define as the 'better' or 'worse' is a form of evolution.

I know, but I do place judgements😉

And i think it did stop, since i dont think we are changing anymore. Sure every human is unique with his/her special own gene set, but he/she is not far better or worse then others.

Actually, we as a species are still changing. It's just that evolutionary changes occur over generations, not single lifetimes. Out of curiosity, have you ever read 'The Selfish Gene' or 'The Blind Watchmaker' by Richard Dawkins?

My opinion is that humans arent really evolving anymore because of our intelligence. Humans with bad eye sight would simply be eaten in the past, now, they wear glasses/lenses. In the past only the ...[text shortened]... and eat on animals they caught, now, we have McDonalds.

Does that explanation work for you?🙂
Yes, it shows me that you don't understand what evolution is.

The Selfish Gene is one of the most disturbing, interesting, eye opening, and amazing works of all time!

No, i didnt read those books.

"It's just that evolutionary changes occur over generations, not single lifetimes."
I know, we were talking about "offspring".

"Actually, we as a species are still changing."
What about us do you think is still evolving at this moment in time? And why?

One example is that we are getting taller. It wasn't so long ago (in evolutionary terms) that the average human male was under 6' in height.

Read one of the two books that I mentioned when you get the opportunity. Dawkins is one of the best at illustrating the concept of evolution.

But do we see that back in our genes? There are more factors that could explain why we would get taller. Better nutrition, specially for kids. Puberty seems to kick in more early too.

I dont read that many books, but I might want to when im going on vacation. Ive written the names down🙂

Technically that's natural selection.. And also mankind shouldn't be getting dumber, we have the almighty google and wolfram alpha (If you don't know what that is, Google it!).

Thats correct lol, its the mechanism of evolution.

I didnt say mankind was getting dumber.
I guess the internetz provide us with alot of knowledge, theres also alot of crap tho. This knowledge isnt locked into your genes tho, so it doenst have much to do with evolution.
