lion versus rhinocerus etcetera.
in the land case the romans found the lion to be fairly efficient, motivated and controllable.
- lions are very dangerous to small land animals like ourselves and so we fear them,
- elephants are the biggest land animals; when they tried elephants: the elephant was either passive or tried to take out the audience after annihilating the lions etc.
in our case here i believe the sharks are completely out of the picture: they are only a danger to little fish and animals.
the worst i could find was:
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/sharks/index.html
"GREAT WHITE SHARK ATTACKS
Most great white attacks are not fatal. Great whites account for about 1/2 to 1/3 of all 100 annual reported shark attacks. Of these 30-50 great white attacks, only 10-15 people die. "
if we look back in time then:
MEGALODON . "It could easily swallow a large Great White Shark whole! "http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/sharks/glossary/Megalodon.shtml
i believe the semifinal comes down to orca versus sperm whale.
if there are a large pack of orcas and if they can box one sperm whale into the shallow waterss then they have a chance.
but sperm whales are also pack animals.
1 on 1 in the open ocean: the sperm whale is ten times as big!!!!!
(orca 4000kg, sperm whale 40000kg)
both are dedicated hunters and killers.
my only doubt is whether the sperm whale eat the orca in one, two or three bites?
my winner except in extremely unfair cicumstances: SPERM WHALE
(as for narwhales !? at 1800 kg they are tiny, less than half the size of an orca.)
and the grand finale: female blue whale versus male sperm whale!!!!
(sure packs of orca have killed a baby blue whale - but not an adult)
so we have the sperm whale at 40000 kg sporting 18cm teeth and the planets hugest brain
against the planets hugest ever animal of any sort, at an incredible 150000kg!!!!
.........
A Killer Whale would annihilate a Great White Shark. First of all, they are much bigger. The biggest Great Whites are the size of an average orca. In addition, they are mammals, which means they are warm blooded - more efficient metabolism (I think?) and probably much more intelligent. They are also used to fighting creatures their size or larger, where the Great White kills littler things.
How about Sperm whale vs Megalodon? Or Orca vs Megalodon?

How about Sperm whale vs Megalodon? Or Orca vs Megalodon?
orcas and megalodon are tiny, they would just be pulverised.
(4000 kg of orca is only 2.7 % of the weight of a blue whale, picture schwarzeneger versus chihuahua)
a motivated blue whale would be a nightmare.
i think even a 40000kg sperm whale would go down; the key is motivation, blue whales are never motivated to do this and so we never see it.

even you have not followed them.
the basic concept of underwater battles is interesting,
i believe a motivated female blue whale would win against any other creature.
the only serious contenders i can see are:
male blue whale,
male sperm whale.
(the next largest animal is a fin whale at about half a blue whale's mass, it is also a balleen whale and so i do not see it as a threat)
