I ask because it annoys me slightly. Although not the only player to do it he has certainly done it more times than anyone else I know. What has he done? Embarked on a massive number of games, increased his rating so far, then got bored (I assume) and let an equally massive number of games TO. I just doesn't sit right with me that someone does this consistantly, but I'm an irritable sod. Any comments?

It's only irritating if you care about your rating and you play this opponent while his rating is deceivingly low. I do believe I know the opponent you are talking about 😉

It annoys me greatly.I am leader of a clan.We have a situation that someone who is as guilty as of the last poster's finger pointing can come back at 1200(when he plays like 1600.that is not fair)
When someone can start clans and then they just die, they should not be allowed to start another.

Don't you guys look at the graphs before you start a game with any player? I do.... just for this reason.

I know of one clan that started with most members with the towering spikes of game play and fallen valleys of absence. I don't play them... why bother?

As leader you have to trust. If you check every detail nothing would happen. If no one bothers then nothing moves.I think it is called collective responsibility.

That's part of what irritates me - he'll likely come back again and in his first X number of games he massivly below his true rating (~1600). The players he beats will lose much more points than they would if he had his true 1600 rating. And then when he quits again he gives those points away to those who just happen to still be playing him. It's almost like he is randomly distributing points around the site.

I don't particularly care about my rating, but I would be annoyed to lose so many points this way, and I'm sure other people would be too. I wouldn't even want to gain free points this way. Which is why I deleted the game he chalanged me to instead of deleting it & moving slowly until he TO'd as I knew he would.

If a player has a star next to their name but no wings, then this is just a monthly subscription i think. I wonder if this is somehow related. But nevertheless activity seems to have stopped earlier than the end of the month.
I hope *********** is alright.
Has this happened before? regularly?
I agree with phlabibit: look at a player's profile if you care about your own stable rating.

about the stars - good guess, but not right. When this site started it was small and 100% free (for us anyway - Chris & Russ footed the bills).

Then RHP got larger & so did the bills, so C&R asked for one off voluntary donations from member so help out for which they got a star by their name - without wings.

RHP continued to expand, until it got to the stage that subscriptions were necessary. Origional pawns stars were allowed to keep their stars and the wings were introduced to denote a subscriber. Keeping to their origional word C&R have allowed origional pawn starts to have the same access as subscribers, but you'd be suprised how many people have wingless starts hidden underneath their winged stars because they chose to subscribe anyway.

So in short, the person in question has eternal unlimited access to the site. And yes they have done it before, at least 3 times now.
