Golly, cft, I think I get all right. I think if anyone is being the thorny part of the rose, it would be the person sitting in front of your keyboard. After all, you're the one trying to say that the agenda of a few people in a subset somehow are the arbiters of the mores for the whole group.
In opposition, most people who go on line behave nothing li ...[text shortened]... uled. Does that domination therefore establish a new 'normal?' In your book, apparently so.

Say there's a big turd just over your neighbor's fence. They won't clean the turd up.
But for SOME REASON you keep going to this fence to look over at the turd and sniff the air to be sure it still stinks.
A better idea is to ignore the turd. Move your grill away from the fence. The only time you see or smell that turd is when you go to the fence and stretch your neck to see if it's still there.
The turd isn't in your yard. You saw it when you were looking around, quit looking. Quit sniffing. Forget the turd.
Eventually, the turd will be absorbed by the earth... you don't need to watch, it will eventually vanish.

Like them or not, VR and GB add something to the forum that you guys don't.
I named GB forum poster of the year, some thought it was a bad choice, but who besides GB or VR gets talked about more? Not you or I.
some of beantownboy'z posts make me think...
therefore, on that occasion, for me, tis a good thingy...
now,
az i attempt to remember ANY rustypost that required thought or rethought, i come up blank...
in fact, 76.8% of what he writes causes my eyes to roll back into my head...
and,
that hurts...
you may ask, why read???
on the off chance that someday, some way, somehow, he will accidentally hit tha dartboard...
i had a supervisor once, during an evaluation meeting, lament that "all" of his time was taken dealing with the less than exemplary employees...
and he felt he ought be showing MUCH more attention to tha ones who were actually doing a good job...
perhaps this parallels what iz happening here???
or maybe this wuz just a chance for me to express myself afore going away and doing manual labor for tha rest of tha day... 😛

Can you name names or are you going to hide behind the veil of insinuation?
Is it necessary to point out those handful of folks who pounce without thinking anytime a certain poster puts up another deceptively bland food-for-thought post? Do I need to name the certain poster, or is the description enough? Can't the same be said for those phalanges and a thumb?

Let me start: Blackamp is one of pouncers, obviously. But although he is the most obvious case, I don't know how he dominates the forum in any way. Is he a mouth-piece for other interest groups? Oooooh, I love a good conspiracy theory.

As do you.

You know, I never actually wrote any one's name down: I'm certain that if you were to do a search of 'the certain poster' you wouldn't be too far afield by zeroing your efforts on those whose echoes come nearly instantaneous with his clap. Write some of those names down and see if any pattern emerges.
You may find your name there, you may not. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.

See? Some people have made themselves obvious by their consistent actions. He dominates (or attempts to) any conversation put forth by his immediate attacks on the person. Instead of addressing the topic at hand--- or ignoring the same if it fails to meet his threshold of interest--- he launches into derision, thereby derailing the conversation.
Oooooh, I love a good conspiracy theory.
I don't think that phrase means what you think it means.
The post that was quoted here has been removedI'm guessing you don't know what constitutes trolling. I can't speak for VR's posts, but I think most of us can agree that GB starts posts instead of merely taking potshots at others'... which, by its very definition, is trolling.
Kinda like what happens by those who are ever vigilant in their attacks on GB's posts.
Unbundle the posts. Strip away poster costumes. Reduce the side bar chit chat this thread has spawned to its irreducible core essence. What's left? Random opinion and truth mixed with error (worthy of the Spirituality Forum) about one of the oldest topics in the world: conflicted majoritiy/minority viewpoints of large/small groups of homo sapiens struggling to coexist.
