we just vote. and we're so damn lazy we buy frozen pre-made pancakes that we can microwave with our jimmy dean snausage breakfast bowl.

In our town we have a Pancake Bell which the Mayor uses to signal the start of the pancake races at 12 noon. Also, there is a tradition that the local fishermen would give the offcuts from their rope mending to the children to skip with. So we also have the beach road closed to traffic to allow everyone to skip safely. I think we are the only town to have this tradition, and the local schools allow the children the afternoon off (with parental consent) so they can keep it going.
