Silliest Typo Ever

I collect typos and other inadvertent uses of language (sad, but true).

Thanks to spellcheck, you get a lot more good typos nowadays than you used to. People rely too much on the computer, and it doesn't spot the mistakes that end up with real words, which is what makes a great typo.

However, my favourite typo situation ever was when I spent a short time dealing with inheritance tax for a client. His wife had died a long time time ago, but the tax affairs were dragging on. Anyway, the local Inspector wrote to me intending to say something like:

'Have there been any changes to the estate of Mr X's wife in the last 2 years?'

but actually wrote:

'Have there been any changes to the state of Mr X's wife in the last 2 years?'

My client took it all in wonderfully good spirits and even suggested that I write back along the lines of:

'Yes, on investigation, Mr X confirms that his wife is now almost fully decomposed.'
