What amazes me is how readily people are to believe stuff on the flimsiest... um... on absolutely no evidence whatsoever.

Yes, it surprises me too. But the will to believe is powerful. Also significant is the desire not to give offense, which in itself is a laudable characteristic.

Unfortunately some scammers are able to exploit these qualities, and the anonymity conferred by the internet is a huge help.

I believe that bilieving is more constructive, than non-believing:-) Look: if you have no evidence for or against, by non-believing you can just miss the real thing. And common sense will tell you it is time for doubts.

I hope no one feels fooled here... We risked nothing by believing this guy.

It's not like he said, 'Many of you probably know me... and I would like you to send me some money.

Regards
Yasser Seirawan'

If he had, we would have made sure.... wouldn't we.

I'm just interested to see what happens with his one game with Bbarr. Bbarr probably only took the game to see if this guy had chess.

I think the difference is that M Jorquera is a master, not a world famous GM. And he's not offering to help anyone out with advice, but rather to play ruthless, winning chess. Which is how things should be.

Mind you, I could do with some advice right now.... 😕

I have now contacted Seirawan and he has offered references. Once verified, I will let you all know here.
