When I was active playing 15-30 games a year over 5+ years I never had a single game affected. You must have bad luck?

I believe I may have had a PGN destroyed at worst, but an honest result was awarded in the end for the game.

Give us a list of your games "toyed with", otherwise I think you're exaggerating.

Obviously, with your years of experience of managing and developing a chess site for 100,000 users you could do a much better job.

But you are a non-sub. Could it be that cheap bastards like you, are stopping Russ and Chris from ploughing resources into the servers and equipment?

Considering this is a recession, and advertising revenue will be drying up. . . i doubt it.

How many bytes do you think all them stars and wings occupy eh? No subs = loads of data space freed up = no need to invest!*

* Yes I do know that really it's only one single image for all. Cheapskates make you share a star... how does that make you feel not getting your own star even (unless you're in the Helden move count band)?

They're pay-per-click (PPC) ads and they probably generate £0.02 - £0.05 per click. Being generous, that equates to roughly 500 clicks per month to equal the £25 subscription. The average click through rate for a PCC advert is 0.5 - 2%. Again being generous that means they would need to serve the ad to 25,000 non-subscribers to generate the same revenue. I'd hazard a guess that the money they get from PPC barely covers the cost of running the adverts.
