good point, it serves no purpose.
Does that situation remind you of anything at RHP?

well, we have to get this law passed first.

in the meantime maybe we could do a trial on some of the naughty little kids around here. xanthosnz would be perfect! i've already been trialing him out in the corner, but his behaviour seems to have become somewhat more erratic.... where he is getting all the other children invloved. i think this is due to passin ...[text shortened]... nd with the videotaping just yet as this is just a trial, and bound to be plenty of mistakes.
Then make some 'mistakes' on our dear boy xanny. 😀

they were saying teachers were getting sworn at, spat at, threatened, abused, assaulted, cars attacked, abusive phone calls etc.... on a constant basis. for some nerdy guy who comes out of university into a school where gang's children attend, they are lost and incapable of dealing with them.

this is some of the things they were saying, and from the jist of ...[text shortened]... en. as one guy said.... we once were scared of the cane, we once were scared of going to hell.
It's not the schools job to pick up the parents slack when it comes to discipline. If this is happening, then the parents need to be talked to, and if nothing changes, both the parents and the child need to be taken to court. Here if you disrespect a teacher they put you in ISS (In-School Suspension - which doesn't give the child a free pass to go home), and if you miss the days that you're supposed to come in ISS, they'll take you to court.

Plus I promise you that one day some teacher is going to hit the wrong high schooler, and possibly the teachers and the students will suffer for it.

I mean, my P.E. teacher is about two to three times my size and pure muscle (the stereotypical American gym teacher only with a nasty temper). And he scares all the girls in my class to death (he'll come up while you're bending over stretching and start playing with your hair and will grab you sometimes). He just makes everybody feel uncomfortable. But I can't imagine what he'd do if one of us smarted off. If he just gently tapped me I'd fall over. And I really don't want to be smacked by Hulk Hogan.

Nothing good is ever going to come from hitting a child. There are plenty of other less barbaric ways to deal with problems. And if you're telling kids not to do anything to teachers, yet they can act like children and hit you, what kind of message are you sending?

i was on the way to my pre-sentence report today and the losers double booked my appointment, so i have freedom for a little longer.

well i was listening to the radio, where they were pushing to bring back corporal punishment into the schooling systems. the reason being teachers and families had been targeted on a consistent basis.... especially by secondar you'd get your bum canned.

what do you reckon...... bash the naughty little buggers or not?
No
NO
N O !

It is my job as a parent to discipline my child.

What is missing and needed in school are family values classes. The Values I learned growing up are almost extinct. This is why we have the issues we have today.

Edit: reading over the thread remora91 said it better then I did.

Teaching values is the job of the parents and doesn't have a place in schools.

I disagree, values are not simply a family issue they are a society issue.

I have had a long day (not sober) and will for the moment not go into details; I will start a thread when I am clear headed.

I'd love to hear what you consider the appropriate values to teach in schools.

Human Rights, for example.

Consider it a date to discuss further tomorrow.

But palynka is on the right track.
