I just lost my phone, it was a Nokia E51, and did the job i required of it...namely make calls, texts, wake me up when i was sleeping at work.

Now i have the chance to get a new phone, my wife suggested i get a bill pay smart phone and here is where i need a little advice.

Can yous recommend a smart phone? I was looking at the HTC oneX, because i heard it was a goodun, and it isn't an iphone. What smart phone would you guys choose, and why?

Thanks in advance...Huck.

I think you are on the right track with the Htc models, you also get a lot of phone for your money with Samsung models too.

Just as important is figuring out what you are going to use the phone for and get a model and contract that is as tailored to that criteria as possible.

The kid has a Samsung Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) , blows an iphone away. Only costs his daddy 26 quid a month 🙂

If it was me I would get either :-

Smartphone :- HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3

Tablet/phone hybrid - Galaxy Note

Now that the Galaxy S3 is out the Galaxy S2 is cheaper so you could look at that. I would not get an iphone when an android phone does the same if not more for less.

galaxy s3 makes an iphone look like two plastic cups and a piece of string!

The two best phones on the market right now are the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy 3. Technically the Samsung is the best with it's quad core processing, gigantic screen and massive pixel count. Combine that with Android 4 and you have a beast of a phone. Smoking fast internet when you put in on a LTE4 network.

But, if you don't/won't use that kind of performance, then go for last year's models...the HTC in particular. You can pick those up now for zero dollars.

I'd only recommend the iphone if you are a technological idiot that doesn't mind paying 3 times as much money as you should. Apple has made a boatload of money selling old technology to people that don't know any better. But if it works for you, then by all means it might be your best bet.

I'd stay away from the blackberry unless you like using a real keyboard or like to chat with your friends. Their BBM system is top notch but the screen is so small it makes using the internet very frustrating. Compare a blackberry to the new samsung and you'll see what i mean.

BTW, stay away from tablets...phones are getting larger and will soon replace the tablet altogether. Your phone will become your digital wallet in the near future.

A smart phone is only as smart as the person using it.

Even you Phlabibit using the Galaxy s3 would be smart. There's an app to stop you trolling.

I would disagree with uzeless to get last year's HTC if the OP can't get the S3 or the One X. The best smartphone last year was the Samsung Galaxy S2 not a HTC.

Also the Galaxy Note and the Galaxy Note 10.1 can be considered if he wants something a little larger.

That's a good phone too, but the HTC ONE S is almost as good as the HTC One X. Either way, you can't go wrong with either phone.

I have had two Samsung phones in my life and they were both cack. As mentioned before, menus are convoluted and touch screen is a pain in the arse! My mate has a Samsung Galxy and has exactly the same opinion. Avoid touch screens. They are novel but not as practical as 'normal buttons'.
