Originally posted by the dominatorI agree to a point, but it's not all bad! You still CAN have only a landline at your home, you still CAN send letters. That it is highly likely that many people communicate via different methods nowadays is I think - at some level - a shame, but until the day comes where I can't pay a tiny sum to post a letter and have it reach a given desination in a day or two, I don't really care what others do. The "good old days" are still here as far as I'm concerned in my own little world. I don't care too much how others communicate.
what happend to the good old days where letters where sent, and there were only home telephones, every second person i walk past is yapping on a cell phone!!!!!!!
-dom😠
On an unrelated point, I think it's interesting that the vehicle of communication changes over time but the fundamental method need not. For example, when PSTN voice telephony reached the mass market, many thought it would be the death of letter writing. Then along came email, and while many emails are nothing more than extended text messages, I'd wager there are plenty of emails that have been crafted and created with all the care and love of a written letter. I'd rather receive and write a hand-written letter, but a well-written email can be exceedingly pleasing. The vehicle changed (postman vs IP) but the fundamentals (form, structure, content) don't have to.

Approximately 6.5 billion people on earth.
Approximately 75 billion SMS messages sent daily.
That's 11.5 messages per person. On earth.
Don't people want to talk anymore?
I friggin hate the sound of a Nokia when someone gets an SMS. Then they have it on that horribly high volume as well.
The only thing worse is people who actually have hour long conversations - using SMS messages!

That's one thing I can't stand. The 'yutes' of today with cell phones. They should be banned from schools and my kids won't have one. It's amazing how all of us survived childhood without one but now the kids 'need' one. Please please please.... NO! 😉
DANG! Maybe I'll just drop the dating scene instead of putting myself thru all this crap! 🙁
They all have their phones on their desks in class (university). They have them on vibrate , so their phones are dancing all over the desks. I would take them up and keep them if I could. ....or perhaps a mallet to the phone? AS soon as class ends, they all scoop up their phones and call someone. Then you see them all walking to class with the phone glued to their heads.
