Anyone who has heard about the sniper trial going on here in the USA. They just found him guilty on all counts. Death is next.

Personally I think the lethal injection is too soft! I'm sure phoney Tony, amnisty international and the EU don't agree with me, but its no coincidence that since the death penalty was abolished in dear old England, law and order has gone to pot! At the very least, a life sentence should mean life without the possibility of parole, thats my two pence worth anyway......😲

well, the death penalty is nothing short of what the sniper in question caused himself, so that is the right penalty for him to be ..."reasoned" with. Will George W. Bush over see the execution himself?

I think that he was already given the death penalty even before he got caught. Verdict should be in tommorow.

Teenage accomplice should either receive the death sentence or spend the rest of his life in a maximum prison being someone's Hoe...😏

Really? How so? I'm quite curious to see how you can logically justify such a statement. I, an American citizen, am unfamiliar with the specifics of English law. Kindly enlighten me as to how your justice system has "gone to pot."

Simply put, since Hanging was scraped in this country, sentences have been getting more lenient, Burglers dont get jailed and people have resorted to taking taking the law into their own hands. Life should mean life and not 15 years if your unlucky!😠

Whilst I'm unsure about the effectiveness of the death penalty, I think the 'going to pot' is likely caused by the current general attitude that criminals are 'victims' that the system 'failed' them and that they just need an opportunity to prove themselves. Nobody considers that people might just be scumbags pure and simple (okay, they may not be the cause of their behaviour but that doesn't change anything). This pathetic wimpiness is all-pervading in England for the last 10 years or so and means nobody has the guts to speak out or stand up to criminal gangs, illegal immigration, drugs (poor little drug addicts) and a whole host of other matters.

gone to pot eh! we should have the death penalty, just like they do in the US. eeer, wait a minute... the sniper was in the US wasn't he? Obviously the threat of the death penalty didn't work to deter him from his actions.

I have yet to hear any convincing argument for the death penalty. It has time & again been proven to be totally ineffective as a deterent, perversly ends up costing more money per prisoner than just locking them up for life would, and is a bit of too late to paron someone when you realise that the didn't do it after all.

Sure, the sniper is guilty. But the Guilford 4? Bimingham 6? That 'slow' guy who was let out last year after 25 years after they realised he'd been set up by the local sheriff? They were all 'known' to be guilty for a long long time before it was realsied tha they weren't.

Not to support the death penalty (and to be entirely facetious), the death penalty is incredibly effective at preventing re-offending.

Yes, just think of all those people we could have "killed" as our good old "bobbies" set them up, hey, they were guilty of something weren't they?

Most of the crimes that according to the UK media "plauge" our society would not be in anyway influenced by the death penalty anyway. Public hanging for mobile phone theft? Also, it is not really a deterant to murderers for one simple reason...when they committ the crime they do not intend to get caught for it!

Law and order has not gone to pot, we i.e. England in this case, have made more things illegal but have not created the facilities for the courts to pass the required sentancing. Its no good sending more people to prison if you have no where to send them is it?

Mother Theresa about abortion: "We all want to live in peace, but how can we live in peace in a society that allows mothers to kill their own unborn children. When there is no peace in the womb then there cannot be peace in our minds".

Same thing applies to the death penalty ...

Legalising state violence will not help to fight crime ...

The trial's only now! The whole case was nearly a year ago!

I think the death penalty is wrong. The guy killed many other guys but you don't want to kill this guy aswell. The more people in the world the better.
