what are they above sea level though? that has a lot to do with how much snow you get, plus i met they get hot summers. we don't.

No, arctic tundra in Canada doesn't warm much in the summer.. 15C max, but it's because of the continental influence much like Siberia.. the UK is warmed by the warm Atlantic current much like Alaska in the Pacific.
