What sense does it make to have 90+ minutes of a heavily defense game decided by 5-10 minutes of a heavily offensive game? At first, it's waaaay too hard to score, then waaaay too easy to score.
Might as well have a distance rifle shooting competition break ties with pistol shots at point-blank range.
Originally posted by expressiveoutburstThere are clumsy tackles made in the earlier parts of games now ,surely that can not be the result of tiredness,so therefore i know that you are not right and have little understanding of the game.
I played football from aged 10 till now so I do know abit about it. I see you didn't reply to my bit about tired legs making clumsy challenges, as you probably know I'm right. Your idea would never be implimented because it would not give any more excitement to the viewers or add anything to the game, it would simply take it away.
I also think that my idea would create more excitement as the game would be opened up quite a bit,but you are right when you say it wont be implemented, penalty shootouts are here to stay (unfortunately).
Here is another scenario then ,What about a goal scored from outside the box worth two points and goals in the box worth one.Remember it is just another idea(i have mentioned 3 now ,you still have not put forward one).

I think that if a chess game ends in a drawn position, pieces should be randomly added until a decisive outcome has been reached.
Spectacular.

Originally posted by boarmanI know there are clumsy challenges during the game aswell, but said that there would be more of them than usual, during this 'play until you score time' because of tiredness. I know you have been putting forward ideas, but penalties are still the best way to end the game. You can't go putting points for goals inside and out the box into the equation as it will then stop being the traditional game of football. I'm not putting forward any ideas as I think penalties are still the best idea that exists.

And I do have a very good understanding of the game as it has been the one thing that I have loved my whole life and dedicated alot of time to.
Originally posted by expressiveoutburstI do not doubt that you love the game ,its just that i think the tackling would still be the same.Clumsy tackles happen all the time and it has nothing to do with fitness, you will see more players unable to keep up with the fitter ones and with this it will open the game up more.

There just has to be a much fairer way of deciding the outcome of games. In all reality it is just luck(whether the goalie guesses the right way )You could possibly just flip a coin ,at least the teams have a 50/50 chance.
As for a spectacle ,penalty shootouts are not what you would call enthralling.
I think we will just agree to disagree.
