Point taken.👍
👍 😀

I seem to have a middle finger option to choose from, lol, and I have to be careful when selecting. Eyeglasses on, check.

If you're someone born before 1970, chances are you won't like rap. It's a genre where that targets and is consumed by mostly young people. In the same way parents once complained rock & roll or heavy metal was "not music" (many claimed it was from the "devil" ) or was just "noise", older people may do the same with rap.

I grew up on rap and even I'm starting to say the ...[text shortened]... But I'm getting older, so it's to be expected.

Rap, heavy metal, they're not for older people.
I agree. For me it's all about the lyrics, not the music. As I get older I cannot deal with lyrics that condone horrible behavior, or minimize it.

Same here. But again, that aspect of rap is dying out.

For those who may not like rap, I get it. Though these may not change your try sampling these, which happen to be some of my all time faves:

So did anyone listen to any of these tracks?

I listened to these, and though I respect rap as an art form, I would point out 98% of rappers don't play a musical instruments, and don't actually sing. This is more like reciting poetry to pre recorded music. Enjoy it if you like, but IMHO it will never rise to the level of an Eric Clapton guitar solo, nor can it approach the words and music of Fleetwood Mac or Journey. 🙂

Thank you for introducing me to a different aspect of a genre that I normally despise.

However, compare the following lyrics:

Led Zeppelin
If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you,
When mountains crumble to the sea, there’ll still be you and me.
Kind woman I give you my all, kind woman nothing more.

Nikki Minaj

You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe,
You a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe (yeah),
You a, you a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe,
You a, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid)
You a, you a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid)
You a, you a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid)
You a stupid hoe, you a (stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid)

Merits of rap vs rock? I rest my case……..

Ya I think his post settles the issue. 🤔

You lose.

Maybe when that culture stops being ghetto they will be respected by the world?
