I’m rounding up a posse, everyone meet at my house…
Sorry to hear the bad news, Russ. The MO suggests to me you reside in Britain, rather than the US, where burglars are usually very careful the householders are away for fear of running into one who is armed and the protection of the law for using force to defend his home.

If you're in Britain is there any chip in the TV that's used to track that particular one for tax-purposes or do the tax police just use general radio-direction-finding equipment?

They picked up a video camera too on their way through. I hope they enjoy watching my son' sixth birthday party from 2 days ago. So, yes, something valuable was stolen.

I was burgled once. They took my tv, dvd, stereo, computer, car, caravan, conservatory and my diamond tiara.

I was most upset. If it had been a friday I would have been wearing the tiara down the blue oster club!!

They forced a window in the back of the house, picked up the telly (and the ONE remote they needed out of a box of many), then headed out the front door with car keys and my wallet.

And just to really tick me off, they then loaded it into the back of my (not very desirable) car then made off.

All while I was sleeping.

Think about that new friend you had over recently. Think about any friend going through a ruff patch. Think about anyone who has entered your home for one reason or anohter. Most of the time home robberies are someone who has been previously let in the home.

Well, it sounds like they knew their way around pretty well. I would suggest a good security alarm system. That would be a good place to spend the insurance check. It is a good thing you didn't wake up to you or your families throat slashed. Criminals have a tendency to return to the scene of the crime. They know where they can find a new telly now. Sorry to hear about the intrusion. That's really messed up.

It might have been the dodgy plumber you suspect peed in your kettle when you were out of the room - I've seen those 'name and shame' watchdog programmes on the BBC...
