Love rhp very very much but me thinks this place is not so hot. Way too many program using people on here. I mean there are ones on rhp too but I believe anyone in the top 20 would beat most engines rnning off a home computer. The one bad thing about timed chess online is that it attracts engine users, think thats why so many top players from rhp dont play on here or have stopped playing. Is there anything that be be done about it? I remember yahoo used to somehow block itself from opening when you were running a program because I used to have problems trying to analyzing my games as yahoo would freeze up when I opened chessmaster 8000 at the time. Just finished beating some guy on here trying to use cm9k to play and he gets so mad that he calls me a program user after I beat it. I've played countless games against cm9k so its pretty simple to recognize plus I check all my finished games against different programs to check i f I played a human or a machine cmk9 agreed with every signle move the guy made right to the very end and loss lol. I love timed chess, and would like to play on here along with playing on rhp, any thoughts on it?
I have never understood the thrill of using a computer. I don't understand why people do it. Win or lose, I would rather it be my achievement. I have no idea of how to stop it except maybe making them sign a written pledge before starting on RHP. I am sorry for people who have nothing better to do than cheat.

I'm not playing any games with increments or of over 5 mins on UChess any more unless it's against someone I know - at blitz speeds it is much harder for program users to make moves in two windows simultaneously. There are a few people who appear to be doing this during games with 5 second or greater increments.
Pity, as otherwise UChess is quite a nice site.
I use to watch ChessMaster play and research on the internet, or run Ad-aware or a virus scan. Not all programs running are from players using a chess engine to play somebody. Those servers that are checking for running programs are miss making false conclusions at times. Yahoo stoped me from running ChessMaster. I learnd a lot from those games. Some players state that they think it is stupid to watch a program play . You learn your way and I will learn my way. ChessMaster's game have improved my endgame. P.S. Why do they not spend time moniter the players abusive language more so than programs. The abusive language is what ruins it for all players.

with due respect i have for your chess skills but you come across very arrogantly (in my opinion) ...
if i would run cm9k on a pentium 4 computer and give it some time for each move the machine would easily reach grandmaster status and wipe you mate ... i think you should really not declare you can beat computers as only very very few people can (unless you are a GM in which case i apologise for this post)
just my thoughts

ChessClub has a very interesting system for discovering people cheating, if you suspect someone is using a program you make a complaint and they have a group of players who evaluate the games and if they agree you used you are banned.
Originally posted by The Slow PawnFor chessmaster I can say that I can beat it. I beat it running off my own computer which is probably one of the fastest home computers in the world. Now I know some may laugh at that statement but I can build computers from scratch, including the motherboard and built my computer myself and have an insane amount of power and space. Now in a blitz game I will usually loss to most chess programs but in a game with infinite time I will either win or draw, though I still havent beaten shredder 8 yet and can only draw at best and have lost to deep fritz 8 a few times as well.

As for watching engines play, I don't think there is anything wrong with watching your engine play against itself or another personality it has, but to watch it play against human players online is ridiculous.
Originally posted by TRACKHEAD21As its impossible for uChess to catch engines (would mean that all ongoing games should be checked against all known engines at several dephts ) I think that your only solution is to play people who you know will rather loose them self than watch their engine win (or loose).

Maybe the ICC is a little over sensitive, however, there has to be a medium I'm sure. Of course experts and above can beat CM9K and Fritz, what about the players that aren't at that level. Sometimes there are people who use computers when there are locked in a tight position, not neccesarily throughout the whole game. If I was ever by a comp playing user, I would be mad, but I would ask them why they had to be the middleman. I have CM9k at home that I can play. I guess we can't exactly stop the (C)heaters, but we should not take the rating as serious as we do. Higher ratings should just be used as a tool to gain more experience from higher-rated players
