Don't drink too much beer, but on occasion I'll drink:

Black Label
Guiness
Amstel

In SA we don't really have too much of a variety of beers as most South Africans are fiercely loyal to Castle (ala Black Lung). A very bitter lager which goes from hops into a can in something like 3 days. Crazy stuff, I don't like it much, but it's got enough alcohol to hit the spot.

Man I gotta go visit Belgium then.... mmmmm

Just a couple of additions:

Alexander Kieth's India Pale Ale (the pride of Nova Scotia)

Tuborg (anyone who's been in Kobenhavn on the night the snow falls will probably have a particular affinity for this one)

I was reading this thread and starting to despair that no-one was standing up for English beer - the only true beers. Varg is correct and Theakstons OP is top of my list also;

1) TOP
2) Wadworths 6X
3) Butcombe Bitter (local to Somerset)
4) Stones Best
5) Arkells (local to Wiltshire)

Also worth a mention is Old Speckled Hen. A pale ale, therefore not a beer.

Also agree with the comments on Guiness and a quick mention for Lowenbrau. Worst drink in the UK with the dubious title of beer has got to be Simmonds bitter.

He basically admits that the people of America tend to be quite unsophisticated yet blissful in thier thoughts. A self labelled redneck and proud 😲. I'm half American so please don't let any offence be taken. Drinking for me started at 14 so ...[text shortened]... a still waiting for that completely outrageous age of 21 to consume beverages in bars and clubs.
That age of 21 your talking about has yet to stop any of us yet! I also started at the young age of 14. Also, if you like Jeff Foxworthy, give Rodney Carrington a try, just don't listen to it around your grandmother!😲

1. Millers (from the tap only, in a can it tastes foul)
2. Not sure which brewery but when I was in denmark I had a very nice festival beer, so very good.
3. stella

I'm also partial to the occasional local beer. However, the majority of the local stuff (east anglia, england) are bitters, which I don't really drink often. Although Broadside isn't bad. Guinness I will also only drink, out of the tap, in Ireland.

I feel like I should have an english beer on that list, but I just can't think of anything particularly nice.

I suppose my faves are:
1. Bud Light (I know, pretty normal)
2. Heineken
3. Michelob Ultra (Low Carbs!!)
4. Carlsberg
5. Killians Red

I have another one, but it's not really a beer, so much as it's a drink.
It's called a Shandy (I think). You pour about 3/4 of a pint with Carlsberg and the rest with pink lemonade or red koolaid (I can't remeber which). It's really good.
A Yank beer, and a light as your number one?? *Feels faint*

I stick to the locals myself as my drinking budget is never too large.

1. Carlton Draught
2. Tooheys Old
3. XXXX - a Qld beer but it's still pretty good.

I had a rather nice local beer when I was in Norfolk called 'Wherry Ale' or something. Very nice.

I am quite partial to my local beer. There's nothing in the world quite like drinking a micro-brew twenty yards from where it was made. If any of you lads come through SW Colorado, the first round is on me. 😉

The only exception I make is Guiness. I'm a sucker for a good stout.
