David,

You have missed the entire point of the song "Imagine", because you are hung up on the fact that Lennon had money when he wrote it. The reason he had money is because he was successful. While it is true Lennon was worth millions by the time he wrote it, in your viewpoint, only a starving artist could have written that song. The reason most are starving is because they can't sell their stuff, or they haven't been discovered. Now, if the song had been written by a starving artist who was down to his/her last dime, would you find the lyrics distasteful....I doubt it. Remember, artists do write works directed at target audiences to sell music. Once they have achieved the golden ring, they can do their own thing, most times without fear of retribution. My personal opinion of John Lennon is that he was an idiot, but my impression of his body of work is brilliant. Granted those are my opinions and not everyone feels the same way.

If that is the technical term, then yes.
It's a term I made up for Björk. 😛

Two of the Bee Gees used to do it. the other one died because he couldn't sing. 😲
Actually that is not true. Maurice actually sung lead on a couple of their hits. He was pretty shy and preferred the background. Robin is hillarious to look at when he sings and he performs most of the falsettos that you can't figure out. Barry was the one the ladies loved and he could hit the high falsetto. And don't forget, Andy may have been the most talented of all the Gibb brothers and he did perform with the Bee Gees for a while, so technically two have died.

Technically, they should all be brain dead after their lifestyle!

I don't doubt Nords knowledge. I have never heard that term used before, and more than likely haven't heard hundreds of others either!

As for the Bee Gees, if what you say is correct too, then why are the other two still alive? Did they stop singing?

Then basically, the bulk of the successful acts in the industry would fall into that categorization.

As far as Rap goes... have you ever listened to some old EPMD, Public Enemy, and Del La Soul?

They are good, and it's ok if you don't like them... just give a listen. If you are interested I can formulate a list some time Monday or Wednesday.

I appreciate that there are some RAP acts that are better than others, but I don't like the entire genre. The lyrics are for the most part ultra violent and without much merit. I do not like the format at all. I aprreciate that others do, hell my kids like it. I like Rock, pop, country, R&B, soul and some metal and some jazz. I don't like everything produced in any genre, but I can appreciate a lot of the stuff in them. I'm not knocking it, but it isn't my cup of tea. I would give your list a listen, but I am doubtful that a reckoning will occur.

You don't have to say it, because most do have the same lifestyles.

*edit* It goes with the territory. Widespread use/dependence on drugs and/or alcohol or other stimulants, due to schedules of appearances or performing requirements. etc... That may be too broad to say "all acts", that is why I say "most".

Agreed.
In fact, rap is not even music.

It's an abomination to me. 😛
