I have decided to share with you a rare insight into my life outside of chess - this game is one which I have spent many hundreds of pounds on, but every hit was as good as the last...
Sonic blast man is a game you see at fairgrounds. The hero (sonic blast man) saves the day by punching his way out of the situation.
What happens is you put the money in and a punch pad rises up - you hit it as hard as possible and it registers the 'power' of your punch (In mega tons, of course). You get three punches to get a certain score.
There are 5 settings:
1.Very Easy - sonic blast man catches a mugger stealing from a pretty young girl, the mugger stands there and gives sonic blast man three free shots to the face before retalliating. If you have a good punch, you can have him well beaten within two punches.
Blast man is rewarded by the woman (the actual 'reward not seen on screen)
If you fail, blast man gets floored, with the mugger (and victim) laughing at how feeble he was.
2. Easy - Sonic blast man sees a large truck about to run over a baby, flies in with his super speed, and demolishes the truck with three punches (he probably had time to get the baby out without punching, but where would be the fun in that). This should be pretty streightforwad and easily doable within three hits.
Blast man is rewarded by the mothers praise, and recieves some media attention too.
If you fail blast man gets, predictably, run over by the truck (no mention as to what happens to the baby)
3. Medium - An evil crime headquarters has been discovered. Sonic blast man is first on the scene and sets about punching the building to pieces, in a heroic fashion.
This is usually ok, but some machines seem to have a fault in the arm of the punch bag and, consequently, it is almost impossible to score much over 100 mega tons. This is about 300, so needs a bit of clout but goes down pretty effortlessly.
Blast man is rewarded with the keys to the city, along with a huge press conference.
If failed Blast man succeeds in destroying the crime headquarters but, in a lapse of concentration, fails to escape the falling building and is crushed under the rubble.
4.Hard - A giant lobster attempts revenge on humanity for all its bretherin cooked in fancy resteraunts by attacking a cruise liner. Luckily, sonic blast man is on hand and flies in to give the lobster a good pummeling (natrually, the lobster gives him three free punches).
Success brings blast man larg scale media attention, as well as a boat of quite pretty looking women who all want a piece of him.
If failed it is, instead, the lobster who gets a piece of blast ass.
5.Very Hard - A meteorite threatens to wipe out the whole of humanity and only our hero can save the day. Blast man flies into space to do battle with a formidable foe - the asteroid stopping just long enough above the earths atmosphere for three punches to be administered.
This is a mission commonly failed by guys who fancy themselves as good fighters but find they lack the power in their punches to deliver the whopping 350 mega tons of damage required to destroy the meteor.
If you do have the power of a superhero and achieve this goal, the meteor is vaporised (strange really since it was done by punches, you would have expected it to split into smaller chunks and still anihilate the planet) and blast man is hailed as the savior of mankind.
If you fail, blast man at least does not have to face his critics as they are destroyed along with the whole planet.
