Hi
Just felt like having a bit of a moan.
I occasionally post open invites. Either because I have not many opponents online at the time, or because I need to boost my move count in the MAP.
I sumtimes also put parameters there, like NO PROVISIONALS or a MINUMUM OR MAXIMUM RATING.
For some reason these parameters are continually ignored. I know that they are not RULES, but they should be respected i feel.
I am not scared of losing rating points by playing and losing to someone wakrer than me or a Provisional, but am often doing it because i am looking for a game of a good standard, which I do not feel will be met by a lower rated player or a provisional who is still proving themslves.
So I am having to delete the games, let them know why, and then repost the invites. A small thing, but annoying.
It's more about the principle.

There were many threads about this but I guess the real problem is that the whole page doesn't fit in the screen:most people told me that they didn't see the game's name because they didn't scroll with the lower bar.
If the name is put before the ''Accept game offer'' this problem should be partially avoided.

however! how is anyone gonna get good if they can't play people that are good? what if, say, bobby fischer came along, but couldn't play anyone decent cause he had a provisional rating?
meh-i don't think it'll ever be solved...😕

I have, on occasion, failed to see the request by the "inviter" because my browser window is not WIDE enough to view the entire line at one time. I know of others that have experienced the same problem. So MAYBE it is not intentional that players are failing to heed your requests with regards to ratings. Perhaps Rich can change the format to correct this.....

If someone accepts your invite and you don't want to play them, surely all you have to do is delete the game. They'll think you're being antisocial and won't bother you again. Problem solved. My problem is the other way round. Having a low rating, my invites are often accepted by people rated much higher, who are clearly just chasing an easy victory (which they usually get!). I have tried putting "up to 1300" in the game name, but I still get higher rated players accepting. I can't see the point of this because I don't get a good game and neither do they. I guess the winning is more important than the playing. I for one will certainly be deleting games accepted by those outside the criteria I set in the game name.
Russ, I know you said you were looking at this one. For a start, mayeb just adding some text to the Open nvite page, telling people to have a look at the parameters set before accepting an invite.
I just posted 8 open invites, clearly stating no provisionals and 1600+.
4 have been accepted in the last few mins.
3 by one player. despite some delay between the acceptances AND me messaging him after the first one sayin I would not be oplaying him and to read and respect the parameters set.
One by another player who has so far not accepted another one - I sent him an email too.
