She said daddy?

I'm very confused and off for the evening.

I'm sticking with "tell her yourself".

You can't call to tell someone twice if they didn't get the message the first time.

ok... i'll try to explain... the daughter of the person who died called. she wasn't really friends with anyone involved but the person i had to pass on the message to was the friend of the died guy but more so his wife.

Why were you in someone elses house when they were out, answering their telephone?

me: sure

other person: this is (someone) can you tell her that daddy died?

me: who was that again?
...[text shortened]... one of these little things that 'you're supposed to do' that i don't get again?
How can anyone know how to act in abstract times? -So you did fine.
I suspect she had a few people to ring and was postponing her greif till she'd done her calls. Would have been easier for her to write to your friend. Or maybe your friend was waiting on news, but then she'd have said to you that there might be a phone call.
No matter how prepared one is about their parents death it's still a shock of sorts when they die, so it's possiable she was in shock still too.

It's not my responsibility or right to pass along messages like that. I would have told the person that it's on them to relay that kind of information.
