The best toy of the 70's for a boy was definitely a Peter Powell kite!

Who had one of these? They were awesome.

I googled and you can't buy them nowadays. Anybody know why not?

What happened to Peter Powell and his kites ?? 🙁

We had stunt kites, but I have no idea whether they were Peter Powell kites. In any case they were great. What was special about Peter Powell kites compared to other stunt kites?

Apart from being the first stunt kites (Peter Powell patented I believe), they had 20m long tails that were filled with wind. You could write your name in the sky, and wrap the tail around people's necks if you were clever 😛. I don't know about today's kites, as I had just a brief google.
