You will need to download some anti-spyware software, or manually modify your registry (which I do not recommend).

SpyBot is what I prefer:

I have run SpyBot and Adaware, and they both identify a "Registry Key" called Altnet. Neither of these programs seem to be able to remove this thing, as they keep finding it. Is there another product that can help? I have read postings about a product called Hijack This, but I am not sure where to get it or how to use it. Any help with this is appreciated.

Using hijack this can be a bit dodgy unless you know exactly what you are deleting with it. I recomend that you create a restore point before go zapping anything with it. Then you can do what you want (within reason). just go to http://www.hijackthis.com
And download the file and run it.
