I fly two flags: The United States flag and the Confederate flag because I am a southerner whose ancestors fought against the North....but the skinheads and KKK butt- munches have ruined what History intended to be a symbol of rebellion against a tyrannical North...so, fly your flag with pride and tell dissenters to stick it where the sun doesn't shine... 😉
I`ve just seen my local Citroen dealership, and every car in the forecourt was sporting, not one but two St George flags. It made me chuckle.

St. George's flag is the English flag.
The Union Jack is the British flag.
Originally posted by trekkieWhat you see flying on British Naval ships is actually the Royal Naval Ensign, that is a St George's Cross with the Union Flag in one of the corners.

St. George's flag is the English flag.
The Union Jack is the British flag.
And I think I'm right in saying that the Union Jack is only the Union Jack if it is flying on a ship, otherwise it is the Union Flag.

Sure the English have got a lot to be proud of: Colonization leading to half the world being the shit-hole it is, oppression of the Irish, oppression of the Scots, Thatcher (spits at the name), Blair and the royal family.
God yeah. I'm off to buy my St. George's cross too.
And so what if he slayed the last dragon!?! It's not like someone's gonna have a flag named after them if they come home boasting about slaying the last panda or the last elephant, is it?
😛
Ach, like I really care?
I found this using google and it seems to be in agreement with a previous poster's description. (jimmyb270)
"The proper name for the UK Flag is Union Flag. It should only be called the 'Union Jack' when hoisted on the jack staff on the bow of a Royal Navy ship."
I'm not an expert on flags or their terminology, but this seems like a very clear definition so thought I'd post it for anyone who might be confused.

I always hear this and I used to believe it too.
So the world was a paradise before the English came along was it?
Get real - most africans would be a great deal more f**ked now than they are if it wasn't for colonization.

It wasn't an British invention, we just bought into the market in a big way.

slavery came along way before the Brits, i.e. the Greek and Roman empires were built on slavery. Also, the African slave trade was mainly run by native african tribes. One tribe would smash another, capture prisoners and sell them into slavery. The Brits for their sins just, as we generally do, set ourselves up as middle men to make some cash on the side.
Also, do not underestimate the importance of the revolution of middle England to the idea of slavery, and that parliament banning slavery was the equivalent of the current government banning all motorised transport simply on moral grounds. This is one of the few genuine acts we have taken as a nation that you have to take your hat off to, look at the problems this caused in America, we new it would cripple us for a while in the colonies, but we still did it.
As for wealth, well its a tricky one, but the fair distribution of wealth was not exactly top priority in any of these countries, as it remains so today.
