Giving a British captain on an internationalist ship a French name wouldn't be feasible in the UK post-Brexit.

I enjoyed Discovery as it’s latest generation production. I was never a big Picard fan or a TNG fan generally.

Me neither a very drab list of characters with a very pompous ham for a Captain but I eagerly await series three of ‘Discovery’ the science bits seem more probable too.

I found Picard to be a safe, diplomat who happened to find himself as a starship captain. TNG was just too “right on” for my taste. Empaths on the bridge, kids at the helm, blind people heading up engineering, cyborg scientists with incredible minds and bodies but the makers incapable of getting its skin tone looking remotely human.
