i was shocked today when i went into starbucks (as i couldn't find any small, independent coffee shop, and my little sister wanted to go). i had a memory of the ethiopian trademarking shenannigans in my head, but when i sat down i was taken aback by the leaflet they had in store.
apparently starbucks, over the past 15 year, have given $3million to CARE international. that is, £1.5m.
doing the arithmetic, that's £100,000 a year. for a company that had a turnover of currently $7.8bn in 2006? why were they advertising this in their stores?!?

No I don't work for them, but I do bank with them and was amazed at what they donate and the foundations they have set up around the world.

Originally posted by Frank Burnsbut they always give you room anyway! i want it so full that i can barely carry it! okay, so that is only about half full for me...but hey...i want to stand at the counter barely able to lift it to my lips as i drain it enough to walk to my seat!
Americano, no room please.
Originally posted by geniusI took notice of that very thing this morning. I think it was because when they filled it, it was foamy on top. Kind of like a head of beer. Then as the foam settled, there was about an inch of room.
