Since I joined this site in February, I have played 162 games.
I have played 101 different players.
I have not played any one player more than 4 times.
I have played 3 players 4 times and all the others less.

Do most people play lots of different people, or play the same few lots of times?

It all depends on how I got my ass whipped by a player. If he totally obliterated me I usually don't play them again 😛
Also, if it's a buddy or someone I have a good chat with, I play them more than once usually.

Well I won't play someone again if they are rated 1215 and they slaughter me. Usually they are 1600 after a few weeks, then I might play them again 🙂

Another example of something like that is a player like Symslov Cham. I don't know the guy and accepted one of his open invites while he was under 1200. Now he's something like 1500 (while our game's in progress). I hate it when that happens.

yep, I know that feeling I accepted an invite from omid1376 he was at about 1290, I think, and I was a little lower, he then proceeded to grind me up. I just had a look and he's now on about 1430, has played 14 games and won them all.

If he see's this, well played.

I played Matthew when he was rated 700 happy in the knowledge of how good he was. Ratings even off over time, the odd point here or there does not matter over time. I was just happy to play a very good player.

The most I have played any one player is 33 completed games.

I played ICTWhizz when he first joined the site. A couple of weeks into our game he had a rating of over 1600. 😲

Well, I don't really have a lot of rating points to play around with and I'm just not really very good either (if I remeber correctly Andrew, you whipped me badly using only your knights and queen).
I don't mind playing a good player, as long as I know his/her abilities and I know what I'm getting myself into.

Usually after about 5 moves you know if you have a struggle on your hands or not. I have been beaten by a lot of 1200 players, it used to bother me then I decided I was being rather sad. Crowley, if you think I whipped you, you should see what some of the top 20 have done to me!

Yes but at least you will finish the game with his real rating. I started playing him (clan games) when he was in the 1000's and within days he was 1400's. Win or lose I'd rather the rating adjustment be calculated on 1500 than 1000 😀

I don't mind losing, at least not as much , if I have a rapport with the person and I get something out of the game even if I lose. It makes a world of difference if they are a gracious winner, maybe give me some pointers, perhaps share a laugh. Don't get all caught up in the ratings. Kirk

Of course ratings aren't everything.
I'm having two great games with Symslov Cham at the moment and some interesting ones with JeffTX, so even if I lose them I will enjoy them much more than a dreary win, or an easy win against a much lower rated player.

Sorry guys, but it's not the fault of the players. It's the system that is used here. When I joined I had a rating of 1880 at ICC.But I had to start out with 1200 here.I think when my rating gets established it will be somewhere between 1500-1600.Maybe you could suggest at the site forum that new players have to give their rating and start out with that rating. If they don't have one they can make a guess or start with 1200.Maybe that solves your problem.🙄

but then you might have people that claim to be 2000+ rated players, but are infact people out to confuse/irritate people?

I play a lot of people once or twice, quite a few people several times and about 20 people all the time. I have played over 1,000 different opponents. 🙂
