Recently, someone gifted a number of rhp non-subs, including myself, with subscriptions. However, in my case, I had already sent a money order to Russ for a two-year subscription (it arrived the day after the gift). I decided therefore to transfer the gift to one of my regular opponents, and Russ was kind enough to arrange this. So, my two-year sub is paid for by me, and the one-year gift sub, paid for by the sub-donor, is currently being enjoyed by said opponent. Not a matter of great import, but i like to be clear on these things and, while i appreciate the gesture, prefer and am able to pay my own way.

Originally posted by Grampy Bobbybecause there is more grace in passing it on to someone with no subscription at all than in keeping all three years for myself. if someone gave me food and i already had enough and saw that someone had no food, i would similarly pass on the gift. it just goes to show that for all your pretence of 'folk wisdom', you just don't "get it". but then, you've already said that its their own fault that the starving millions have no food, so i wouldn't expect you to. in fact, i like to think that even if i didn't have enough i would give some of it away if someone needed it enough.

craven need to advertise or publicize the initiative for the sake of self aggrandisement. Done with the gift now. So what else is on your mind? -gb
Originally posted by Grampy Bobbynothing, so far as this thread is concerned, except to re-iterate what should already be clear (except perhaps to the old and slow). there was no generosity on my part - any kudos for generosity go to the person who made the original gift. my intention is merely to state that my own subscription was paid for by myself.

taste and lacking of breeding to even suggest supporting sources.
Strength never strains. No need to and wouldn't even if there was...

Originally posted by Grampy Bobbysee, this is just the sort of waffle you're always full of. 'strength never strains'? says who? of course it does. watch a weightlifting competition sometime. do you think Kasparov, the strongest chess player in the world didn't strain mentally when he was playing Karpov or one of the other top players?

and anyway, no strain on my part - the PM was sent, what i say was said was said, the truth has been told, no strain at all. in a way i've done you a favour, because at least now you know that even your few supporters think of you as a harmless old duffer.
but let's talk about lack of breeding, since you're obviously speaking from first hand experience, as someone who says one thing but does another - all the time claiming to take the high road, to draw lines in the sand, to reject the coin of the realm. you're a self-righteous hypocrite bobby.
