On the radio the other night I heard the most chillingly beautiful song by this artist about John Wayne Gacy, the Chicago serial killer. I wanted to die. I'd never heard of Stevens before--any fans out there, ever heard him play? Is the rest of his stuff any good?

Me love Sufjan.

The song Come On! Feel the Illinoise! is one of my favourites right now.

The rest of his stuff is very good. He's in the midst of his '50 States' project right now in which he will write and release a full length for each of the 50 states in the US. That's ambition!

My local indie radio station, KEXP, has three archived concerts by Stevens, and they are amazing. Here is the link to the streaming archive, just search by artist name.

Cheers!

Edit:

Oh yeah, I'm not sure if you've heard of Death Cab for Cutie, but they're ubiquitous up here in Seattle. Anyway, this is a recent song of theirs that I found sweet and tender and dark:
