You're such a humorless ass sack.
"Generalizations are always invalid arguments." = A generalization.

Let you in on a little secret, Bosse. There's a mirror in the soul. Goes by various names (norms and standards, conscience, inner self

other constructs that suit your fancy). Look into it. See yourself for who/what you truly are. Kick your own a$$ when the image is ugly.

Still subjective, whatever the nature of the mirror is.

Let you in on a little secret, GB: the face you see in the mirror isn't your true face. Now if you know about a camera in the soul, fine and dandy, you can run the tape. Of course, a little interpretation will always be required, and that's always going to be -- subjective.

Ha-ha: I get it! You're using a non-existent body part (unless your problems are even worse than previously imagined) in an attempt to show how gosh-darn cool you are when compared to the object of your scorn and derision.

Dang, I wish to be as cool as you someday.

How can a blind man tell the sighted what something looks like? You're pretty close to the nadir of maturity and yet you deign yourself elevated to such a degree as to inform those who truly know 'what it's all about.'

Tell you what: when your inner life of thinking comes anywhere near the level achieved with your superficial life of useless knowledge, then--- and only then--- should you launch into any lessons about reality.

How sweet of you to stick up for your buddy.

I take it you disagree with me on the mirror issue and would assert that objective self-knowledge is indeed possible. Please share your wisdom, for I sorely doubt that this is the case and crave correction.

you're missing the point: all perceptions, including those of self, are interpreted, and hence subjective. we can only hope for a degree of objectivity when the object of perception is in the public domian, so to speak, and even then it only goes so far. looking for "the truth" in any hopelessly subjective "mirror of the soul" is an exercise in pointlessness.

GB doesn't have much, if any, understanding of the philosophical issues at stake, but he likes to think he does, and he likes even more for others to think he does. unfortunately, he does manage to suck in a few generally well-meaning souls from time to time.

Yes, although ASD was published much earlier than that. The motif goes as least as far back as Kafka. Paul Auster's New York Trilogy was a great donation to the genre.
