To a degree, you are correct. Perfection isn't the goal, and--- as both you and Bosse pointed out--- isn't what is demanded.

The mirror of truth, Scripture, is itself perfect. Our ability to assess ourselves is limited by our maturity in Christ. Personally, I have never met anyone with absolute objectivity. I've met some folks that are darned close, but as you pointed out, it's a matter of degree.

That being said, who is more likely to be closer in degree: the one looking in the mirror, or the one spitting on the image?
