anyone got any ideas of what i can do over the summer that is,
a. intresting,
b. productive,
c. stops me posting semi-random posts like this as it's raining outside so i can't go into town...
currently i'm at,
-find a decent job so i can earn the £3k+ needed for my accomodation next year,
-learn to read music, understand scales and chords better, and pretty much play guitar better,
-write a java applet of an analogue clock with "real ticking action!",
-write an essay on creationism (the anti-creationist are peeving me off-it's not that i'm trying to prove it, meerly to prove that it is possbile/should be at least looked at. well, that's the aim anyway...)
-learn to cook...
and that's it. i've got 4 months to do that, but i need to do more! any idea's folks?

3 things, just because 1000's of people say it doesn't mean it's the truth. is george bush a good leader? i don't know, but lots of people seem to think so...
secondly, i didn't say i would be discrediting it, meerly looking into it. i shall be looking at the pro's and cons of evolution and creationism.
thirdly, scientists work for both sides, not just for evolution. it shall be meerly a collection of scientific points of view...

(1) that creationism is possible
(2) that it 'should be looked at'
these are very different things, as you are no doubt aware.
(1) of course creationism, taken as the doctrine that God created the world in some form, perhaps then allowing it to evolve, is possible - in that it is not logically incoherent. Since God presumably can do 'supernatural' things like create energy ex nihilo, it seems possible. it is even possible that God created the world 4000 years ago, or even a second ago (and gave us false memories).
(2) the question of whether creationism offers a viable research program for making future discoveries and increasing our understanding of the universe most likely IMHO be answered in the negative. On the other hand, science does offer such a program. To the extent that creationism can be modified to be consistent with scientific discovery, Occam's razor suggests we might prefer the theory that doesn't postulate an omnipotent omniscient creator being.
