It didn't look that bad on the beach, a bit hot but not that much...
Now I am in severe pain. How to help myself ? Yoghurt, ice cream ? 😛
😞
Well,if you were....I wrote the book on tans.Alot of myths say that you must first get "red"before you tan,or"red"turns into a tan....all of these things are false.A good tan takes alot of patience, unless you have that perfect olive complexion, which most of us do not. Those type of skins tan easier.Start out late in the afternoon, after 3pm or even 4pm and your first exposure should only be approx. 20 minutes or so.Stay at 3pm the next day but increase your time to about 25 minutes or so.The following day start out at 2pm,but keep the minute exposure low...half hour at best. The trick is to get a "base"tan without getting red or burned....yes it can be done...with patience!Once you have a base tan,(lightbrown, not red!),then and only then can you back up to ther main concentrated sun exposure rays of around 11am to 2pm.Then add time of 45 minutes for example and 1pm exposure for example. If done correctly you can get a deep rich tropical tan without putting one drop of suntan lotion on!Although, most would recommend some kind of lotion.Lotion is great but if the sun block factor is "too"high, you won't ever reach your full potential of the darkest tan you might have gotton!Once you have a good base tan,you won't need more than about factor 4.keep away from oils. They concentrate the rays too much, block your pores, create rashes and when the wind picks up on the beach, you'll look like the abomidable sandman! Not to mention grease all over your chair, towels and sand flys sticking to you more, especially the tropical scented stuff!
Don't ever rush a tan...you'll lose!Getting red or burned is the worse with peeling and other problems. One of the biggest tricks after you get out of the sun is to IMMEDIATELY put on a very good moisturizer. This is so you DO NOT peel!Peeling loses the tan!Get a good brand in a jar,not from a tube.
Well, enough from the beach bum....happy tanning and remember,if someone tells you that you have to get red first to get a tan,or that peeling is unavoidable, tell them i said they don't know what they are talking about!
