hes saying when you win you get a ton of points
Of course i'm being just a tad hipocritical, as all of my 6 opponents at the moment are rated around my level. I guess i need to become a pawn star.

he was talking about when you beat someone with alot more points than you....if you beat someone like that you get a ton of points😵

This is good for their game. I can play people rated higher than me and lose most of the time, this is good for my game. I think its fairly safe to say you only improve when you play stronger competition. I think after a while most players find their rating will level off, they will kind of find their spot on the list. It is always a thrill to beat someone rated much higher than you, you have to understand that you will lose a lot but isnt that part of the game too?
Actually, and I don't much like talking on behalf of other peeps (forgive me Bob!) but I think he's getting more at the fact that one very good way of truly increasing one's rating (and more importantly maintaining the new level) is to play against people who are better than who. Lose to them. Spot your errors. Learn from them. Do a little better next time ...[text shortened]... ense.
But Bob'll put us out of our misery soon I'm sure and tell us what he really meant!
