So, to further hi-jack this thread:
Any predictions on the Six Nations based on this weekends games?
I think, realistically, the only ones with a chance are England, France and Wales, probably in that order.
Wales could beat England on a good day. France probably too. I don't think Scotland or Italy have a chance.
It was good to see England scoring tries a ...[text shortened]... ompetition so don't get too excited.
Any Southern Hemispherians (!?) paying attention to this?
I say France this year (although I always back them!). I think unforutnitely the Eng/Fra game is played at Twickenham, so Eng prob will be favourites.
How do you beat England ? You get a flyhalf that can read the game... Any one can beat England/Aus by simply putting a chip and charge over the heads of their shallow defense. Its old time rugby yet noone seems to pick it up.
As for Super 12. I think the format has been one of the reasons SA rugby suffers so badly. It has completely destroyed domestic rugby ! Only way you can play in the National Squad is if you play for a super 12 team. Only way you get into a super 12 team is to gel with the other players. Have a look at how many EP players have gone to the Sharks in the last 5 years. Bring back the old format and you'll see SA rugby get back to where it was.
A weekend of mixed fortunes (for me in any case)...
2 bad and then 2 brilliant performances by SA teams.
The Stormers started slowly but staged an immense comeback against the Otago boys.
The Bulls totally outplayed the Hurricanes.
Some good signs for SA rugby. Taking these last 2 games together there were 110 consecutive minutes where the NZ teams didn't score a single point.
GO STORMERS!!
