The 2004 season of the S12 competition is starting in 6 days with the local derbies.
Any predictions?
Will Auckland continue their great form of last year?
Can a South African ever hold the trophy? The answer is yes! http://www.supercricket.co.za/article.asp?aId=106097
Man that is sad...
Go Stormers!
Originally posted by CrowleyThe 6 Nations has also started. I think I would rather watch this - it includes the 'World Champions' !

Can a South African ever hold the trophy? The answer is yes!Could be - are any of them playing for the blues?😀
Seriously - love to see the SA teams playing well. Not sure if it has been the travel but they have often not been competitive. The Bulls have been dreadful, although a little better last season.
For me, the format is getting a little tired and predicgtable. Maybe expand it to include a Pacific Island team - Samoa/Fiji combination. Any other areas which could be included?
Perhaps it is just the length of the season Super 12. NZ provincial rugby, and the tests. I find I don't look forward to it as I used to - after all, the World Cup finished only in November. Oh yeah, I remember how my team got on....:'(

So, to further hi-jack this thread:
Any predictions on the Six Nations based on this weekends games?
I think, realistically, the only ones with a chance are England, France and Wales, probably in that order.
Wales could beat England on a good day. France probably too. I don't think Scotland or Italy have a chance.
It was good to see England scoring tries again (and plenty of them!). However, it was against possibly the poorest side in the competition so don't get too excited.
Any Southern Hemispherians (!?) paying attention to this?
Englands performance yesterday was only OK. Robinsons tries were good. Balshaws try (first try) my grandad could have scored.
The forwards looked too slow against a very weak Italian pack. Chris Jones looks like one for the future though.
Looks all set for a Paris decider on the last day. The Welsh beat a poor Scotland. England and France will walk all over the Welsh pack.
Grand Slam is there for the taking for England if they get their forwards issue sorted out in time for Paris.
I believe the Brumbies are playing the Blues here first up. Needless to say my friends and I will be there; we have been dying for the footy season to start for a while now (since the last season finished, actually). I'm a League fan first and foremost though, so this is just a temporary patch for my footy addiction. My friday nights have been so empty...and my saturday and sunday arvos for that matter.

EDIT: No doubt you realise this already Crowley, but I guess I should make it official. This thread has been hijacked, and only discussion concerning the great game of Rugby League is now allowed.
Union may be the game they play in heaven, but the entire time they are wishing The Big Guy Upstairs would relax the rules a little and let them play League.
