I think he was recovering from an infection, too.
Poor guy - I always thought horses were dangerous beasts...
This just sucks. I always really liked him.
Horses are dangerous. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten kicked, bitten, or thrown off the bastards.

I'm so sick of hearing the word "ironic" when people speak of Christopher Reeve. How it's IRONIC that Superman is suddenly injured, and how ironic that a national symbol of strength is now in a wheel-chair, and that he played a paralyzed character before his accident. I don't know if people think it's funny or what. Nonetheless, this is a very dark time for cinema... Marlon Brando, Janet Leigh (those two being my favorite actor and actress), and now this. I think what really makes Christopher Reeve a wonderful icon is that he never gave up even after his injury. From that day to the moment he died he always had hope that he'd be able to walk again. He supported many other charities and funds for his condition, including stem-cell research, and has always stood as a public figure for hope for everyone who needs it. I hope he's remembered for more than his red cape...

And why would people think irony is funny, unless you mean funny, peculiar?
