...that while in the car with my mother the other day, a squirrel ran out into the road. I was wearing no seatbelt, so my mother surprisinlgy chose my life over that of the squirrel (we were only going about 15 mph 😉), and the results formed an interesting decoration of the wheel wells.

I was sad.

Random event.

Take that, Bad Bishops!

Surely there must be some racoons in Maine that you could run over instead. I see a new one in the road just about everyday. In fact, I see more racoon roadkill than opossums. I had always seen racoons as very crafty, but I'm beginning to wonder if there is such a thing as a freethinking racoon. 😉 Kirk

you're lucky to have such interesting roadkill. all we get are kangaroos, wombats and echidnas. still, as has been noted before, the grass is always greener...<sigh>

not that it has anything to do with squirrel or raccon, but...

the other day my dad was in a 'hit and run' he was driveing his van back to our house from New York from a meeting and a deer ran in front of him and hit the van......it wrecked the radaitor and alot of stuff but the deer ran away....strange that a deer can do so much damage but still be able to run away😕 he might of died later in the woods but I dont know......he could at least pay for the damage he did.😉

the ironic thing i see on the roads is road-kill crows they had been eating off the dead rabit squiral badger ect only to come to the same fate, the perills of lunch in modern day nature.

it was only a squiral, in britain grey squirals are classed as vermine, shoot them as you see them.

Raccoons are very inquisitive creatures. Their quest for knowledge often has deleterious effects on their physical well being. Opposum, on the other hand...well, they're just plain dumb.

I think the important issue here is why weren't you weraing a seatbelt, even at 15mph. I just finished a training course, and one of the other guys on it designed & built car safety systems. He said that American cars have to have air bags with much greater "impact" strength (ie. they come out harder) than in the rest of the world because so many US citizens still don't wear seatbelts. I also heard that many people have rushed out to have their airbags disconnected aafter there were cases where the airbag killed a child - ignoring the fact that the child was in the front seat and either not restrained or in a restraint that specifically says "don't use in the front seat". Is this true guys, and if so why?

Of course down here the kangaroos run over the cars.

Before I can even begin to respond to the royalchickmeister's tale of woe I have to somehow get over the realisation that this thread title reads "T1000 may be interested to know..." and not "T1000 is interesting to know" as I had wishfully first read it. 😀

Hey 'T'.

I think you're interesting to know. 🙄

...I've never met a squirrel lover before. 😛

How about a game? It's been awhile.

One time I was in the car with my mother and we were driving along. The road had trees on either side and a squirrel fell out of the tree, hit the bonnet (hood) of the car, bounced off the windscreen and landed in the road behind the car looking quite dead 🙁

T1000 is both interesting and interested. I find that most interesting people are that way by virtue of being interested in something, even if said is an interest in defiling the virtue of squirrels, which may or may not be in the rodents best interest.

I usually wear a seatbelt, but you must understand my state of mind at 6.45 in the AM before I've had a proper cup of tea.
