If anyone is interested in losing weight, I have tape worm eggs that can be ingested and can really help drop those few extra pounds that you may be struggling with.

Also; I am really starting to get into the whole parasite thing, does anyone have any personal stories they would like to share. An embarrassing ringworm pehaps. How about any raw pork eating stories.

There is a guy who used to be really active on the site, Maggoteer. He was getting a PhD in maggots if I recall. He used to live in Seattle, but I think he is in DC now.

Every now and again I hear of people doing really interesting things with their lives. Studying bugs would be a kick. Was this guy going into criminal research?

God, what a rewarding career he could look forward true. But a maggot is a transient parasite. I like the kinds that spend their entire life living off of a host; like my brother, ex-wife and hook worms. The entire parasitic worm thing is my current interest. Thanks for the info though.

The use of maggots in medicine has become very important of late. maggots are being used in wound care, particularly with diabetic sores. Soemhow they have sterile (as in clean) maggots which they introduce to the wound. They cover the wound and check it in a day or so, and the maggots eat all the necrotic tissue.
Yummy!

Maggots have been used in the treatment of gangrene, since they only eat the dead part.
Mosquitos are god's way of lowering blood pressure/cholesterol.
I heard of a woman who was bothered by persistant nose-bleeds after swimming in a lake. She later sneezed out a leech, is that a good story?
EDIT What EDG said ...

maggots are cool and that's some good info you gave me. But let's get back to the other parasitic creatures that may lurk inside you or on you.

I had a ringworm on my shin. I was a silleh high school kid. I went to the doctor and he gave me some iodine based slave to rub on it. So I did. After a few days, the ringworm began to swell and turn red. I continued putting the salve on for over a week. I was so embarrassed because the place was huge and swollen. I kept it covered and told people I had burned myself. When my mother saw it she sent me back to the doc. Turns out, I was allergic to Iodine!
It took months to get the Iodine out of my system. I had rashes and itched like mad. Oh, the shame!
btw, ringworm is not a worm, it is a fungus sort of thingy 😛
