If their so smart, why can't they do the problems like we have to do on tests? Or do they not know how to do them? Or are they just trying to make me mad?

Because they have better things to be doing. In addition, why would they take the oppertunity for any error when they don't need to? That would be a silly thing to do. Do you really want your tests marked twice, with a whole lot of moaning from anyone who didn't do well this time that the answers must have been wrong?

Teachers are not necessarily 'smarter' than pupils: they are just better eductated in the subject at hand (usually). A teacher's real skill is in communicating ideas to those that haven't heard them or those that have heard them but just don't understand them. The latter takes most of their time. That and endless marking.

well-my maths and computing teachers this year have had to make their own answer schemes to papers as they just don't exist 😕 the papers last 3 hours. so that's 3 hours of thinking. then tehy've gotta write/type it up neatly. and considering they've got crappy pay for crappy-er hours?...

I'll post two answers, a serious one and a sarcastic one, and you can choose to read either one, depending on what mood you're in.

Serious answer: Teachers' days are filled enough with grading papers, making out their lesson plans, giving some students extra help and then actually teaching the classes, for them to have time to actually do each and every problem or question as you are doing.

Sarcastic answer: Teachers actually aren't any smarter than you. It just seems that way because they've been around a WHOLE lot longer.

In 5th grade our teacher made our peers grade our papers. Why would the board hire teachers if they can't multitask?
