Professional tennis is a world away from ours from performance point of view. Of course. Though I heard that frustrations are the same. As well as tactics don't get far away from advanced recreatives.
I was cheering for Ljubicic this season -- I feel near Croats, because we used to live in the same country -- and will be living together soon again (EU ;-).
Did you see Ljubicic playing against Federer or Ljubicic against Nadal in Spain ? He was sooo close, but yet so far away. I think his serve is one of the 3 best this last season.

Federer just seems to get better. Its too bad Fed couldn't go back in
time and play, like, Conners or whats that guy from the 40's and 50's
Rodregues, dang, can't remember his name, saw a tv show about
him a few weeks ago, was unbeatable and won his last tourny at
the age of 45 or something rediculous like that, you remember
who I am talking about? Was hispanic and ignored by the
upper class idiots of the time.
I play tennis. Unfortunately, we have such a long winter here and no good in-door courts so I havent played it since September. But I really love the game and cant wait next summer to come.
I wonder is there some connection between these two great games. I know many chess players who also play tennis.
After a fun active tournament at our chess club, we headed to the tennis courts. Best of both worlds. It was my first time playing tennis. I couldn't judge how hard to hit the ball. It kept going out of bounds similar to badminton. Maybe I'm just to strong for such games 🙂 Haha, naw I switched to a wooden racket after and it was all good. I also won a couple of matches vs a newbie.

As a U.S. citizen it was both painful and yet beautiful to watch.😕
He played great tennis against some of the best players in the world including Roddick, Agassi, and the Bryan brothers (doubles).
Simply stunning!😲

Originally posted by monster truckI totally agree. Focus during tennis is as critical as it it during chess.

I would image you would find a higher correlation between people who play chess and tennis, than between chess and most team sports. At least that's my theory for today ...

Could be the tennis elitism that exists to this very day!?!
Originally posted by monster truckCould be elitism. But I don't think so. I think individual sports tend to draw a different type of athlete. For example it always seemed to me that endurance athletes were generally brighter than many team-sport athletes.
