Most pro tennis players seem intelligent, as opposed to some interviews I've seen with other pro sports athletes.
Could be the tennis elitism that exists to this very day!?!
To the person joking about strenght and a wooden raquett, you just need to learn how to hit the ball correctly, getting it inbounds can be done at almost any level of strength. A topspin shot will make that much easier.
Does anyone know when the Australlian open starts, I havn't been following tennis at all lately (since nothing happens the last couple months of the year).
Originally posted by RookRAKBy the way, I started a thread on this in Debates, for anyone interested.
Could be elitism. But I don't think so. I think individual sports tend to draw a different type of athlete. For example it always seemed to me that endurance athletes were generally brighter than many team-sport athletes.
These thoughts, along with the odd "brain" thread today have made me curious - I'm gonna start a new thread on this ...
I'm glad there are many of us that share interest in tennis as well.
🙂
Then, i "concurr" that correlation btw these 2 sports goes to the fact it's individual, it's competitive, it needs intelligence in tactics. All the same.
Now, since there are many of you, think of a tennis vacation and come over.. we'll have chess & tennis. I'd love to find a family where dad is in both of these sports 😀
I "thank" to the one of you from US that admired Croat Davis cup performance. I think they have a magic generation and so they've put together something that will rarely be repeated by a nation that is 100x smaller than US. Immagine...
Question: does anyone know how rating is calculated in recreative tennis ?
