For the 300 movie the following routine was attempted by half the actors after 4 months training - the others were too terrified apparently. Best time was 18 minutes.

Anyone here attempt it?

25 pull-ups
50 deadlifts at 135 pounds
50 push-ups
50 box jumps with a 24-inch box
50 "floor wipers" (a core and shoulders exercise at 135 pounds)
50 "clean and press" at 36 pounds (a weight-lifting exercise) each arm
25 more pull-ups -- for a total of 300 reps
There's no rest between movements and the score is based on total time

I can do it in a week.

EDIT: In school we had nice test - there were 7 exercises. Each of them we had to for 30 seconds as much times as possible and there was a 30 seconds rest between each exercise. There were pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, one-legged-squats and a few others. That was painful.

I do 7 sets of chin-ups/pull-ups, 15 reps each, for a total of 105 in 10 minutes as part of my daily routine. I'm 56 years old. Can anyone beat that? How many of you noodle-armed choir boys can even do a chin-up?

Chin-ups=forward grip on bar, Pull-ups = reverse grip.

Wow, that's a lot. I can do 15 reps, but I'm not sure I can do 7 sets.

Were you in the military? At peak shape, I have been able to do 3 sets of 50 pushups...but 15 pullups 7 times is pretty impressive. I'm doubt I could do 15 either. But I'm probably faster - that's what I work harder at πŸ™‚. I had my pulse below 60....not sure if it's still there though. 😳

But I always do at least one set of pushups everyday.

Yeah, it was the military that got me interested in fitness, became a lifelong habit. I had a chin-up bar in my backyard 20 years ago, after doing them daily for a year they got so easy that doing chin-ups was like bending over to pick up a penny, I could do 50 in a max effort when I was 35, now I don't push myself that hard.

In my youth I was a top athlete with a sponsorship from Nike. I came second in the European junior 800m with a time of 1min 54.7 at age 16. I was up at 6.00am running barefoot on sand up and down dunes. My lunchtime was an hour on the track, and evenings were spent pounding the roads on a ten mile run.

Then through University, booze and fags and peer pressure I lost contact with my coach, as my new life coach was a female student.

Yesterday I spent so much energy walking looking for a golf ball I collapsed with exhaustion and ended up on a drip. Oh the days of youth.

I still sing for the choir though! 😏😏
